How to read a Made-in-USA claim: 8 examples, in the brands' own words

Published 2026-07-02 · reflects the registry as of the latest site build · 8 active listings

Most Made-in-USA claims fall into a handful of patterns once you start reading them closely, and the wording tells you something different in each case. This guide isn’t a category roundup — it’s eight real claims from across the registry, picked to show the range, quoted exactly as each brand published them.

A plain, unqualified claim ("Made in USA") is the most common phrasing and the least specific — it tells you the brand asserts US origin and nothing about how it defines that. A completeness claim goes further by naming a threshold, like "100% American-made." A dated claim adds operating history ("Made In The USA Since 1910") without necessarily saying anything about scope. And a disclosed-sourcing claim tells you the most: it names what isn’t domestic in the same breath as the origin claim — "Fabrics from Japan, Garments Crafted in USA," or "Made in the USA with Globally Sourced Materials." None of these four patterns is inherently more or less truthful; the disclosed-sourcing ones simply give you more to go on.

I don’t score or rank these claims, and appearing in this guide isn’t a certification — every brand here carries the same Tier 2, self-attested badge as the rest of the registry. The FTC’s "all or virtually all" standard for unqualified claims is explained at ftc.gov; meeting it is each brand’s responsibility, not something this registry checks.
